Volunteer Positions – Parade Day

We need almost 100 volunteers on parade day in 4 main categories for as much time as you can give us. As a note, Staging area volunteers can also be Collectors, Sign Supervisors, drivers/announcers, or Photographers. The link to our SlyReply signup sheet is below.

Staging Area: All participants will arrive at the staging area for line up. Volunteers will check in participants as they arrive, send the participants to their designated spot as well as give instructions to bus and truck drivers, direct parade traffic, and stage the parade by giving instructions to groups. You must be able to give clear instructions. From 12:00pm-6:00pm, check-ins will be completed by 4:30pm. 25+ spots available.

Parade Route Collector: The 2019 parade will cost over $80,000 and is completely funded by donations. Collectors will be given a bucket and volunteer shirt and an assigned street to solicit donations from parade spectators along the route. You must be able to interact with the crowd and try to make it to everyone in your assigned area. You will be able to see family and friends along the route and will get to see the parade as it goes by. From 4:30pm-7:00pm. 28+ spots available.

Sign Carrier Supervision: Generous sponsors who donated $250 or more are given signs in the parade that are carried by 100+ children. Supervisors will help organize the children before the parade and walk with them during the parade making sure that the children are kept safe, that signs are far enough apart from each other, and ensure that children are not on their phones during the parade. From 3:00pm-6:00pm. 18+ spots available.

End-of-Route Help: With 3000 participants joining us again in 2019 the end of the route volunteers will assist in parking buses, trucks, and cars as well as direct participants to the shuttle busses that will bring participants to front of the parade. From 12:00pm-4:30pm. It’s the busiest until 4:00pm. 8 spots available.

Review Stand Ushers: Verify that the people in the review stand have tickets, show them to seats, and hand out cold water. Assist the treasurer in handing out checks and receiving Collector buckets as they arrive. 4 Spots available.

Official Photographers: Take pictures of the parade from your vantage point and submit them to Secretary Amy Braid for review and upload to our Flickr account, website, and social media. Unlimited spots available.
