Join us for the July 4, 2011 parade at 5 p.m.
History of the Parade
The Wakefield Independence Day Committee, Inc., organized in the fall of 1990, plans,
and schedules activities in celebration of Independence Day as well as other historic
events. Its purpose is to advance the knowledge of and build community spirit in
celebration of our nation’s heritage.

We are proud to continue the tradition of Wakefield’s Fourth of July Parade. First
organized by the town’s Chamber of Commerce in the 1920s, the parade was
coordinated by a local social club before the WIDC took responsibility in 1990.

We have worked hard and built this event into the largest July 4 parade in
Massachusetts, and second-largest in New England.

The WIDC is registered as a 501(c)(3) organization, and contributions made in support of
the parade may be considered charitable donations.
