On Monday July 4th 2016, the community enjoyed a 4th of July celebration unlike any other in Massachusetts. On behalf of the Wakefield Independence Day Committee, thank you to the Town of Wakefield, its residents, and its businesses for their unwavering support to make the parade such a success. Congratulations to the West Side Social Club on yet another successful day of events and fireworks. The WIDC would like to thank the Wakefield Police Department for all of their many months of planning and coordination that contributed to keeping everyone safe this year. We are grateful for the WPD and its officers and would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Chief Smith, Lt. Skory, and the entire department.
Additionally, we would like thank Action Ambulance and the Wakefield Fire Department for their help in providing medical stations along the parade route and for providing extra personnel in order to keep the community safe on Wakefield's biggest day of the year. The WIDC also extends thanks to Rick Stinson, Joe Godreau, and the entire DPW for their work posting street closures and putting out cones July 3rd and 4th and for their hard work to make sure that the parade route looked sharp again after the celebrations had concluded.
We would also like to extend a big thank you to Town Administrator Steve Maio, the Board of Health, the Wakefield Public Schools, and Wakefield Recreation for their efforts in the coordination of various parade-related logistics, including overnight stays and field use for a Wisconsin High School and the Blue Coats Drum Corps. A huge thank you to the businesses and individuals who donated to raise the $80,000+ necessary to have the parade, especially to the Wakefield Daily Item and to Carino Media for helping us publicize for the parade year round both in print and online. We could not do this without all of our sponsors and we are grateful for any contributions that we received this year.
Donations for the parade can still be made online at julyparade.org.
Thankyou for your time, donations and patronage.
