Non-musical acts are just as important as the marching bands!
The Wakefield Independence Day Parade has a long tradition of spectacular floats.
What would a parade be without marching bands? The Wakefield Independence Day Parades hosts approximately 20 amazing marching bands every year.
The parade starts at 5:00 pm on July 4th.
The parade starts on North Avenue (near I-95N at Exit #39) and travels to Main Street in the center of Wakefield.
The West Side Social Club and the Wakefield Independence Day Committee hope you are planning to spend your day in Wakefield this 4th of July because we have an amazing day planned.
Children’s events by the WSSC begin at 7:00am with the fishing derby, and will include a pet show, races, and more until the early afternoon.
At 5:00pm the largest 4th of July parade in MA and the 2nd largest in New England kicks off on North Ave. with 15 bands and over 2000 total participants from around North America including floats, veterans, costume characters, cars, jugglers, and more!
Afterwards, make sure to head to the Lower Common for a concert on the Band Stand, followed by fireworks over the lake at 9:30pm, sponsored by the WSSC.
If you get hungry on the 4th please make sure to visit our shared official vendors on the common throughout the day. You will be able to get 4th of July favorites like burgers, sausages, smoked bbq, drinks, and even fresh made pizza! They will be set up throughout the day until after the fireworks and are helping to fund the day’s activities.
